  • How can I get to Tanzania?

    Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) is the International Airport closest to where a safari and a climb begins. We recommend;

    • KLM, Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa
    • QATAR Airways via the Middle East
    • Turkish Airline via Turkey
    • Kenya Airways via Nairobi, Kenya.
      • If you are flying to Zanzibar, we suggest that you either arrange your flight where you arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and depart from Dar es Salaam Airport (DAR). Flights to Zanzibar are available from Arusha Airport, Kilimanjaro Airport and various locations in the Serengeti.

  • Do I need a Tanzanian Tourist visa?

    Tourist Visas can be obtained upon arrival at both Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and at Dar es Salaam Airport (DAR). The forms will need to be completed and the visas paid for at the arrival section in the airport. In some cases, the airline will provide the visa completion form. You will require two blank pages in your passport and the validity of the passport has to be within six months of your arrival date.   • Do I need travel insurance?

    We strongly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance. It should cover, trip cancellation, lost or delayed baggage, emergency accident, illness and evacuation, delay or interruption, 24- hour medical assistance and traveller’s assistance.

  • What documents will I need to bring with me?

    Passport, plane tickets, Safari itinerary, travel insurance documents, Yellow fever vaccine certificate, credit cards/bank cards, cash for tipping and for personal use, Vaccine certificate.

  • What is the weather like?

    The climate is typically sunny, warm and dry. December to March is warm, March and April are the wettest months. July and August tends to be cold and is also the busiest times of the season. September to November can get dry with slight rain.

  • What languages are spoken?

    Swahili is the official language.

  • What type of safari vehicles do you use?

    All our safari packages include a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a driver/guide. Each traveller is guaranteed a window seat and all vehicles are equipped with a long distance radio.

  • How much is the tip on a safari?

    You will need cash to tip your driver/guide and the camp/Lodge staff who have served you. For the mountain you will need to tip the guides, porters and cooks.

    Suggested tipping guideline:
    Safari Guide: $15 - $20 per person per day
    Lodge/Camp staff: $10 per day per group

    Alternatively, you can use the tipping box at the Lodges and Camps. These tips will be shared out equally to all those staff who assist you behind the scenes.

  • What to wear on a safari?

    Pack some comfortable and light attire that will enable you to sit comfortably in the safari vehicle. Neutral coloured clothing is recommended to improve game viewing. Having layers on helps with the varied temperatures as the mornings and evenings can get cold. Make sure to pack a sweater and gloves when travelling in the cold season. Sunglasses and a sun hat is essential. Swimming costume will be ideal when relaxing by the pool.

  • What essential items to pack for the safari?

    Insect repellent, sun cream, sun block, small first aid medical kit, personal toiletries, camera equipment, snacks, anti-bacterial hand sanitiser. Binoculars, UK plug adapter, torch or flashlight will be essential.

  • Important Information

    Plastic bags are banned in Tanzania and Kenya and travellers arriving at either airport can face heavy fines. This includes plastic bags carried in either the checked luggage or in the carry-on luggage.

    Don’t leave valuables lying around. Lock them in the safe in the Lodges or camps or give them to the camp manager for safe keeping.
